Hello, my situation is similar tothis question for Windows 7, except my OS is Windows XP SP3. I have recently realized I made the mistake of buying a Bluetooth adapter and installing the Broadcom/Widcomm Bluetooth stack driver software. Now that I know that the software is no good, I want to uninstall it. Then I'll install the Toshiba stack for the Cirago adapter. Right now, when I double-click on the setup.exe file that came with the Cirago driver, nothing happens (it doesn't start setup).
WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software program is developed by the company named Dell Inc. The official website of the developer is support.dell.com. Normally the program size is around 2.34 MB. The default installation directory of the program is C: Program Files widcomm bluetooth software bin btdfuwizardp.exe. WIDCOMM Bluetooth software controls Bluetooth wireless adapters manufactured by Broadcom that are installed on your computer system. Currently, this software is available for Windows 7 (RC)/Windows Vista or Windows XP/Windows 2000. Once downloaded and installed, WIDCOMM can control almost any aspect of a Bluetooth.
I've attempted to uninstall all Bluetooth driver software in Device Manager, and I don't see any remnants of any Bluetooth drivers there.
But I do see that the little Bluetooth icon still persists:
I don't see anything about Bluetooth, Broadcom, or Widcomm in Add/Remove Programs. I don't see any folder names Broadcom or Widcomm in Program Files folder, either. But I do see that Broadcom does show up in the registry with respect to Bluetooth, as shown here.
I also renamed every file in C:windowsinf that starts with 'bth' so that it ends with '.old'.
What should I do now to completely wipe this persistent Broadcom Bluetooth software off my computer?
Thanks.

If your Windows OS has not managed to automatically install stable Bluetooth drivers (which is an occurrence that can commonly happen with various obscure Bluetooth items who in some cases carry no official branding or are intentionally sold by scammers without branding and easy driver support), then WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software should be one of your first steps in trying to make those devices functional.
Installation and Use
It comes in a single installation package created and updated by Braodcom, carrying inside of itself both control utility and a wide array of drivers for an incredible number of supported Bluetooth devices, wireless communication protocols, codecs, and services. WIDCOMM Bluetooth Program can handle all sorts of Bluetooth devices, including wireless adapters, audio headsets, game controllers, input devices, wireless microphones, and many other Bluetooth-powered peripherals.
Upon starting this app, it will immediately scan your space with an active Bluetooth adapter, and try to establish a connection and pair with any discovered device. The entire procedure is automatic and consists of four separate steps, all showcased with their own workload bar – Detecting of Bluetooth Device, Validate Bluetooth Device, Download Bluetooth Software and Install Bluetooth Software. Upon the successful installation, you will be required to reboot your system once to take full advantage of all the newly-installed Bluetooth features.
The simplicity of this approach can be especially useful when trying to establish a wireless data connection between PCs (desktop or laptop) and modern mobile devices. While the transfer speed of Bluetooth technology is not fast, it can save you a lot of time and troubleshooting that is often required to enable tethered data connection. Also, many users today prefer cable-free experience.
